In the documentary film The Spiritual Revolution, I have been given the title American Guru. American or otherwise, what is important is the word Guru. In the
West, it is a very confusing word. Let me share my understanding of what it means.
Guru is a Sanskrit word. The first syllable, Gu, means darkness. The second syllable, Ru, means light. The true Guru is one who takes you from the darkness of ignorance to the light of truth. Yet, what is important is how this enlightening process is actualized. It is not about intellectual education. It is about authentic spiritual empowerment.
The true Guru is one who is anchored in authentic being. Authentic being is actualized wholeness as a constant experience. The power of wholeness has high amplitude. Thus, the high-amplitude power of a true Guru is an empowerment experience. One is awakened in their presence. The principle is termed Entrainment or Sympathetic Vibration. When any two human forms are placed in proximity to each other, the one with the highest amplitude of power entrains the other to its vibration. With a true Guru, the experience is a shift from fragmentation to wholeness. Thus, it is termed awakening. The term Guru is only truthfully used to denote such empowering experience. You either have it or you don’t. It cannot be faked. If such experience consistently happens, one is given the title Guru.
It matters not what I am called. What is important is the experience one has in relation to me. In this understanding, I am as you experience me to be. Yet, what is important for me is how I experience myself. Simply stated, I experience myself as I am. All else is illusory story and definition. So… call me whatever you like, yet be aware that you are only defining your experience of me. Again… as for myself… I simply am.
